Sailor Pluto commands the mysterious powers of time and death through her sacred Garnet Rod, delivering devastating attacks that channel the dark energy of the underworld as the guardian of the Space-Time Door.
Setsuna Meioh, as Sailor Pluto, wields some of the most unique and mysterious powers among all the Sailor Senshi. As the solitary guardian of the Space-Time Door, her abilities focus on temporal manipulation and death-aligned dark energy rather than elemental forces.
Her signature weapon is the Garnet Rod (also called the Time Staff), topped with the sacred Garnet Orb—one of the three talismans needed to summon the Holy Grail. This ancient staff channels the power of time itself.
As an Outer Senshi, Sailor Pluto serves as one of the most powerful warriors in the Sailor Team, though her lonely duty at the Time Door means she rarely fights alongside the others.
Setsuna's henshin phrase is "Pluto Planet Power, Make Up!" It appears less often than the Inner Senshi sequences because she is usually already at the Door.

Sailor Pluto's primary and most spectacular attack! The sequence showcases her connection to the underworld and death:
She raises the Garnet Orb at the top of her staff high above her head, and dark purple-black clouds begin to spiral upwards toward it from below, swirling around her body. The energy gathers and intensifies until she is completely surrounded by shadowy mist.
Then, bringing the staff down decisively, a small, bright purple sphere resembling the planet Pluto appears glowing at the end of her Garnet Rod. She spins the staff in an elegant arc around her body, building momentum, and then throws out the glowing orb toward her target with devastating force!
The purple energy sphere explodes on impact, channeling the death energy associated with Pluto's mythological connections to the underworld. The attack's dark aesthetic reflects Pluto's role as guardian of the boundary between life and death, time and eternity.
Despite its ominous name and death-aligned power, Dead Scream is used to destroy evil and protect the timestream, not to harm innocents. The "death" it brings is purification—the end of corruption and malice.

A powerful manga-exclusive attack! Sailor Pluto uses the Garnet Orb to create a massive cyclone infused with temporal energy, which is thrown out at the enemy with devastating force.
The attack's name references Chronos (Kronos), the Greek personification of time—different from the Titan Cronus, though often conflated. This connects to Pluto's role as guardian of the Space-Time Door and her unique ability to manipulate temporal forces.
The typhoon represents the overwhelming, unstoppable nature of time itself—sweeping away everything in its path. This fits perfectly with Setsuna's mythological connections to inevitability and fate.

A tragic joint blast attack performed by Sailor Pluto and another corrupted Senshi while both were under the control of Sailor Galaxia during the Sailor Stars arc. This manga-only attack appears only in the darkest arc of the series.
The "Galactica" attacks were corrupted versions of the Senshi's original powers, twisted by Galaxia's control after she stole their Star Seeds. Seeing Setsuna forced to use her time-based powers for evil showcases just how dangerous Galaxia's influence was!
This attack doesn't appear in the anime, where the Sailor Stars arc took a different direction with the fate of the Outer Senshi.

Her personality reflects this role—calm, mature, mysterious, and somewhat melancholic. Unlike Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune who fight together, Pluto usually operates alone, making her appearances all the more significant.
Despite her death-themed powers, Setsuna is one of the kindest and most gentle Senshi, especially toward Small Lady (Chibi-Usa), whom she befriends across time.
