A mysterious satellite starts drawing bizarre patterns on Earth's surface, and Jet hears rumors about a massive bounty for whoever can stop it. Meanwhile, an eccentric young hacker named Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV is also investigating the satellite mystery and contacts the Bebop crew, offering to help them catch the culprit if they let her join the ship. Spike and Jet reluctantly agree and Ed guides them to Earth, where she tracks the satellite's signal to an old abandoned facility. Turns out the satellite's creator is an elderly man named Appledelhi living in the ruins with nothing but old computers for company, and he's been using his creation to draw pictures because he's lonely.
Ed manages to hack into the satellite system and stop it from causing more damage, solving the mystery before anyone else can. But when the crew discovers there's actually no bounty after all, they try to leave Earth without her. Ed isn't having it though—she chases after the Bebop as it's taking off and ends up stowing away on board. Faye finds her already making herself at home, and despite their protests, Ed has officially joined the crew.
